Let’s be honest, humans are creatures of habit and can really struggle with being told what to do. We react in certain ways to various stimuli and in turn, can end up backtracking on those pesky goals we decided to set ourselves. Unless you’re a lone ranger entrepreneur, who answers to nobody, you are constantly in environments where being told what to do is the norm, for example: being at work, home or even in social situations, like when your mate Jim tells you to do that tequila shot you really didn’t want to do…So why on earth would we pay extra to have a personal trainer pick out focus areas we need to work on and shout at us in a gym!?
I’ve always liked the idea of personal training but always managed to make an excuse for the fact I thought I knew everything and was on a pretty ‘tight’ budget.
However, what I have realized is I am not Miss Know It All, there is ALWAYS something new to learn AND health most definitely comes before wealth. Think of all those times you’ve said you can’t afford something, but you’re more than happy to spend money on a big weekend or those new trainers!!
However, if you are really looking to take your training to the next level, it involves investment – both time and money, and so that’s what I did, I invested in a 1:1 trainer out in Bali, which then led me to complete my own Personal Training course where I qualified in Level 2 and 3!
When you are looking to focus in on weaker areas of your body, or learn to adapt training due to old injuries or physical conditions that can limit your ability to grow, I can’t recommend getting a PT more! If you choose me to be your trainer, our sessions will be sweaty, challenging, and FUN! I’ll work you hard and leave you wanting more. You will also receive a personalized program, which you complete when you’re not having a 1 to 1 session to make sure you continue to reach your goals. Click here to schedule a call!
There are so many other beneficial reasons for getting a personal trainer, I’ve put together my top 5 pointers which will hopefully encourage you to give it a go! –
1) It’s Educational
There are so many exercises and training routines out there, that it can be very overwhelming. PT’s are there to teach you which exercises are most effective for you to achieve your goals. Whether that’s growing the booty or bringing the 6 pack back out, they will know exactly what to do. Our bodies are temples and we need to look after them so PT’s will reduce the chance of any injuries. They can demonstrate the correct posture and technique which is invaluable.
2) They can help with unique requirements
Everyone is different, that’s the beauty of this magical life we live, however, this means everyone’s abilities and requirements are totally different. I’m not sure you’d be bringing your grandad to the next Strength class! You can let the trainer know exactly what you can and can’t do, any operations or past injuries, anything you’re scared of. You name it, they will help try to fix it.
3) They hold you accountable for your actions
How many times have you gone to bed and said to yourself ‘That’s it, tomorrow is a new day, I’m gonna wake up, go to the gym, smash a workout and start my day feeling fab’ and then woken up to snoozing your alarm and sleeping for another hour instead? Yup, we’ve all been there. This is where a personal trainer is critical at ensuring you commit and stick to your goals. If you’ve made an appointment at the nest one on one, I bet you’re far more likely to go than if you were just telling yourself to wake up and get your ass out of bed!
4) No wasted time = MAXIMUM RESULTS!
There are two types of people who go to the gym:
The first type is someone who wanders in, spends 10 minutes on the cross trainer and then drifts slowly over to the bike, before half-heartedly trying bicep curls for five reps and then walking out. Not even a bead of sweat on their forehead.
The second type is someone who has a plan in mind and hits the machines with a purpose. They generally have a set amount of reps they do in sets of 3 or 4, and they know exactly what they’re doing on each machine.
It’s fairly obvious that the first group will not be achieving their fitness goals unless they get some help and have someone to direct them, so if you know that you’re one of those people then you should be enlisting the help of a Personal Trainer ASAP.
5) They can improve your mental health and become an unofficial therapist!
It has long been known that physical exercise can help with mental health issues such as depression and that it is highly recommended by many medical health professionals.
Trust me, those endorphins are addictive! In other words, the happy hormone which literally makes you feel like a new human. Having a Personal Trainer to help with your exercise can help with motivation, with choosing the right exercises to release the most endorphins, and also just to have another shoulder to lean on.
Let’s be honest, most of the time when exercising with your PT you will be telling them about your week, how work is going, your frustrations, your entire life story – and this is totally normal! The guys at Nest are super friendly and love to chat, they will make you feel right at home.
A PT is there to help with your fitness goals, yes, but they’re also there to help improve your overall wellbeing. They care about how stressed you are because that will impact how motivated you are in your sessions.
